To print the boarding pass for your Air Canada flight, you don’t need to queue up at the airport. Because you can print them at the comfort of your home by availing the online check-in facility. All you need is a computer and a printer or even if you are at the hotel, you can easily print your boarding pass.

Air Canada’s web check-in is open up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure. To do so, you need to visit the airline's website, select the option- "check-in" available on the Home Page, and fill in the details to proceed further. Then select the suitable boarding option and get the pass printed at home, at the airport kiosk, or send it on your smartphone. To receive a digital boarding pass, you need to install Air Canada's mobile app.

Exceptions

In some cases, you won’t be able to print Air Canada boarding pass at home because in-person check-in is required. Besides this, if anyone needs medical assistance, traveling with a pet or children availing Air Canada's Unaccompanied Minor service, must contact the airline agent at the airport to collect the boarding pass. In such a scenario, you should reach the airport at least two hours before the domestic flight departure and three hours before the international flight departure.

Fill in the details of your itinerary and the tool will display the amount you are supposed to pay for your baggage. If your bags exceed any of these limits- number, size and/or weight, additional charges will be applicable.

Air Canada has certain rules and guidelines related to Baggage Policy. Normally, you are allowed to bring one standard item and one personal item with you regardless of the destination. The carry-on bag should be light enough to fit inside the overhead bin without any assistance.

If traveling with a baby on your lap, you are allowed to bring one additional standard article for carrying your child’s belongings.

Checked Baggage Policy:

If your bags exceed any of these limits- number, size and/or weight, additional charges for your checked baggage will be applicable.

For checking your additional, overweight or oversized bags, it is advised to reach the airport at least 120 minutes before the scheduled departure.

If your bags exceed the below-mentioned weight/size limit, you will need to contact Air Canada Cargo:

  • 32 kg (70 lb) in weight
  • 292 cm (115 inches) in linear dimensions, and/or
  • 203 cm (80 inches) in length

Checked Baggage Policy for Military Personnel:

The retired and eligible active members of the U.S. and Canadian military are allowed up to three pieces of checked baggage, each weighing up to 32 kg (70 lb) when traveling on Air Canada, Air Canada rouge or Air Canada Express flights.

Checked Baggage Policy for Codeshare Flights:

If your itinerary includes codeshare flights (another airline), it’s important to know the baggage policies of the other carrier that may apply.

Baggage Screening and Locked Bags:

To ensure your security, all checked bags must go through the screening process. In some cases, you may be required to open your bags for search purpose. If you prefer to lock your bag, it is recommended that you use a lock which can easily be opened by airport security agencies during the screening process.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) also provides essential information on the many aspects of the pre-board screening process.

Any delays or cancelations in flights may occur due to various reasons such as weather conditions or technical faults. As per the Air Canada’s cancelation policy if your Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express flight gets canceled or delayed, there is an option to use their ‘Delayed and Cancelled Flight Service’. Through this, you can look for another flight online or cancel the remaining flight(s).

Alternatively, Air Canada also gives you the option of raising a refund request for the unused part of your ticket.

How to Request for a Refund

In the event of flight cancelation or delay by more than 2 hours, you can reach out to the Air Canada agents at the airport or call Air Canada Reservations. The refund amount will be inclusive of the fare, all taxes, and other charges paid for added travel options.

As per the Air Canada cancelation policy, you can cancel your flights at least two hours before the departure and only in two cases- if you initially booked it on the airline’s website and are canceling your entire booking.

Canceling Flight Booking Online

To cancel your booking online, please follow the below steps:

  • Go to Manage My Bookings section on Air Canada’s website.
  • Access your bookings by either choosing- ‘Access a flight booking’ or by signing in to fetch all your bookings.
  • Select the booking you want to cancel, click on the ‘Cancel Booking’ link and follow the instructions to proceed further.
  • Once the cancelation is done, you will receive a confirmation email on the address you provided at the time of booking.

Please note if you cancel your booking within 24 hours of purchase:

  • Air Canada will refund you the price of your ticket, notifying you via an email, or
  • Cancel the payment transaction for which no confirmation mail is sent

You can request a refund from Air Canada if:

You have already traveled- You need to fill up the ‘Ticket Refund Application Form’ to request for the refund and use it later to get any updates regarding the same.

You haven’t traveled yet: For the ticket, you haven’t used yet, the process of initiating for a refund is via the original point of purchase.

  • On canceling a fully refundable ticket booked at Air Canada website, the refund process will be automatically initiated.
  • For the tickets booked through another website or travel agency, you will have to get back to them to request the refund.

Upon the cancelation of your booking online within 24 hours of purchase, you will be entitled to a full refund for which you will receive an email confirmation.

In some cases, some taxes and fees are also refundable based on the following parameters:

  1. Whether the ticket is refundable or not
  2. Whether the ticket was wholly or partly used
  3. Rules of the departure country and/or the country where the ticket was purchased

Web Check-in: It is the easiest, fastest, and convenient way to check-in. The service starts 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure. Get your boarding pass printed at home or at the airport kiosk or on your mobile. Tag your checked bags at the kiosk and head to Baggage Drop-off area.

Mobile Check-in: When doing online check-in on your mobile, you can receive your boarding pass on your device via email or SMS. You can also print it at the airport kiosk. Tag your checked bags at the kiosk and head to Baggage Drop-off area.

Airport Self-Service Kiosk: The kiosk check-in starts 12 hours before the scheduled flight departure until the check-in deadline. You can print your boarding pass or opt to receive it on your mobile phone. Tag your checked bags at the kiosk and head to Baggage Drop-off area.

As an exception, you need to check-in with the airport agent if:

  • Children traveling with unaccompanied minor policy
  • You need any medical assistance, wheelchair or have any special request
  • You are traveling with a pet

Air Canada flight web check-in service is easy and can be done from anywhere in Canada, from the U.S. airports, and certain international airports. It is available:

  • Only for passengers flying with any of the Air Canada flights- Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express.

Yes, Air Canada does offer Lost and Found Service and makes every effort to return the items left on the aircraft or airport.

If you left something at the airport’s public area, you can contact the Lost and Found Department at the airport. If you left any of your items in a dedicated area of Air Canada at the airport, say Maple Leaf Lounge, please fill up the Lost Item Form.

To report a lost item on the flight, you need to fill up the Lost Item Form

Lost your passport? - For your lost passport, you must immediately contact your passport office or consulate.

Lost your ticket? - Tickets issued by Air Canada, if lost, you need to contact Air Canada Reservations. And if Air Canada did not issue your ticket, then you have to contact the concerned travel agent or the airline.

Lost your currency? - All the currency found by an Air Canada or Jazz employee in a bag, lost wallet, or piece of clothing is put in safekeeping at the Air Canada ticketing office at the airport where it was found. A receipt is placed inside the item in which the currency was found. And when this lost bag, wallet, or piece of clothing is handed over to you, it will have the receipt and a letter explaining the procedure of claim your money.
